Christian Leaders Choose Courage
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
As God grows our confidence and capability, He also calls us to courage. Courage does not mean we never feel afraid. It means we choose to trust God even when fear tries to stop us. Christian leadership requires courage because standing for truth, extending grace, and following God’s direction is not always easy.
Joshua likely felt overwhelmed when God called him to lead the Israelites after Moses. Yet God repeatedly reminded him not to fear because His presence would go with him. The same is true for us today. God does not ask us to lead alone. He walks beside us in every conversation, challenge, transition, and uncertainty.
Courageous Christian leaders are not always the loudest people in the room. Sometimes courage looks like apologizing first, defending someone who is hurting, remaining faithful during hardship, or continuing to trust God through an unknown season. Courage grows when we remember that God’s presence is greater than our fear.
Reflection
What is one area of your life where God may be asking you to show courage right now? How can trusting His presence help you move forward in faith?
Prayer
Lord, when fear and uncertainty rise, remind us that You are always with us. Give us courage to live boldly for You, to stand for truth with love, and to lead faithfully wherever You have placed us. Strengthen our hearts to trust You fully. Amen.
