Always Present
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
Psalm 139:7–10 (ESV)
Traveling overseas is an amazing experience. Our family just returned from a trip to Greece. The picture is from our ship towards one of the islands. I am reminded that when I travel God is always present. It is not as if he only dwells in the St. Peter’s Basilica or a certain church. How this actually works, I am not sure but I do know that Scripture reminds us that I cannot escape the presence of God.
In another country, the top of a mountain, or the darkness of the ocean bottom God is present. In my loneliness, God is present. In my tears and in my joy God is present. In my guilt and despair, God is present. I cannot out run nor can I hide from the presence of the Lord. He is but a thought or a prayer away. In always being present he is there for us to lean on and hold on in the bad and in the good. May he be your source of encouragement and your source of strength this day and for all the days of your life.
