My dearest Advent Family,
Today’s passage comes from 1 John 5:4 (ESV): “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”
I loved reading and writing this Bible passage as I continue in the habit of daily scripture writing! As I write this passage, I want to hide it in my heart through memorization. And that’s what I have truly enjoyed about scripture writing because I stumble upon passages that, honestly, I forgot were in the Bible! I have studied 1 John as a book through a group Bible study and gained amazing insights for what the whole book was about but when I’m pressed for time and I’m sleep deprived from the night before, just writing one verse makes a difference in how I start my day and shapes my perspective for the day.
I hope as you have read this Bible verse to start your day instead of going first to the news and happenings of this world that it has brought tremendous encouragement! His word is encouraging us to take heart because as His children, we have overcome this world through our faith in Him and in Him alone!
Whatever is weighing you down today, remember you have overcome it already through faith in Jesus Christ because He has overcome the world (John 16:33) as He laid His life down for you on the cross and resurrected to claim victory over death so that we may have forever life with Him!
Jesus,
Yours is the victory! You have overcome the world because of what You did on the cross! May I not take that truth for granted especially on days when I feel my heart is so heavy. Thank you for instilling faith within me through the power of the Holy Spirit who does a mighty work within me. Help me today to cling to this promise more so when life seems unbearable because You bore it all for me. Increase my faith today.
For it’s in your Mighty Name, I pray. Amen.
In His Hands,
Angel Kruse
