Good morning church family,
The penultimate day of our devotional in Daniel chapter 9. Daniel reminds us that God sees more than we can. Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. His ways are above our ways”. Today we see how God answers Daniel.
Our scripture focus today is found in Daniel 9:20-13.
20 While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the Lord my God for his holy hill— 21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision:”
One of the most encouraging moments in Daniel’s prayer is this. Before Daniel even finished praying, God had already begun answering. Daniel couldn’t see what was happening in heaven. But heaven had already moved. How often do we quit praying because we don’t immediately see results? God is always working in ways we cannot see. Sometimes His answer is immediate. Sometimes it unfolds over months or years. Sometimes His greatest work happens first inside us before it happens around us. Prayer reminds us that God’s activity is not limited by what we can observe. Even when life feels silent, heaven is never inactive.
Keep praying. God hears. God knows. God is already at work.
Where do you need to trust that God is working even when you cannot yet see it? Let’s continue to pray, expectantly, with faith knowing God is listening, and His will always be accomplished. Let’s pray together now, Lord, strengthen my faith when I grow impatient. Help me trust that You are working behind the scenes even when I cannot see the outcome. Amen.
