Lent Devotional Series

Dear Advent Life Ministries Church and School Family,

As we enter this sacred season of Lent together, Advent Church, Proclaim Church, our board members, staff, and school family, we pause to remember why we are here. LOVE is why we are here. As we move toward the cross, may these daily reflections prepare our hearts with humility, repentance, surrender, and renewed devotion.

Discipline that Forms Us
Thursday, February 19, 2026

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace.”
Hebrews 12:11

Lent is a season of spiritual discipline, prayer, fasting, generosity, and confession. Discipline is not self-punishment; it is formation. It trains our desires. It recalibrates our appetites. It teaches our hearts to long for what truly satisfies.
For families, discipline may look like intentional rhythms of prayer. For leaders, it may be choosing extended silence before decisions. For staff and educators, it may be fasting from hurry or distraction. Discipline is not about proving devotion, it is about cultivating dependence. It reminds us that growth rarely happens in comfort. The hope within discipline is this: it produces peace. Lent shapes us not for heaviness, but for holiness, and holiness leads to deep joy.

Challenge:
Choose one intentional discipline for the remainder of this week: prayer at a set time, fasting from something specific, extended Scripture reading, and practice it faithfully.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
