Day 1: The Way Begins: United in the Holy Spirit

“Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues as the Spirit enable them to proclaim.” Acts 2: 3-4

The Third Person of the Blessed Trinity descended upon the disciples, and all who were gathered were amazed because each heard the message their native language. In many ways, the coming of the Holy Spirit reversed the confusion of Babel. Where sin had divided humanity, the Spirit brought unity, gathering believers into one people and one faith. They understood that following Jesus was more than accepting a set of beliefs; it was embarking on a lifelong journey. They called themselves “People of the Way.”

It is summer and many of us will find ourselves on journeys of a different kind. Families will head out on road trips, board airplanes, or set sail on cruises. Students and teachers will enjoy a change of routine, and many will take time to rest, explore, and reconnect with loved ones.

Pentecost was a few weeks ago, and I am still inspired by something I heard at Mass. I knew I wanted to explore the spark, that was lit in my mind and heart. This week, I hope you will indulge me and reflect on another journey, the journey of discipleship. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we travel the Way of Christ, strengthened by Faith, sustained by Hope, and united in Charity. Though our paths may differ, we are all called to walk together toward a deeper relationship with Christ.

Reflection Challenge:

• How is the Holy Spirit working in your life?
• What gifts has God given you; how might He be calling you to share His love and Good News through your words, actions, and daily witness?

Let’s Pray:
Holy Spirit fill my heart with Your presence. Help me discover the gifts You have entrusted to me and give me the courage to use them in service to others. As I journey as one of Your People of the Way, guide me to live with faith, hope, and charity. Amen.
