Day 1: Alleluia, He is Risen
Alleluia, Alleluia—He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed.
Each year when I read the Passion, I wonder who I would have been in the time of Jesus. Would I have stood faithfully beside Him like Mary Magdalene or Martha and Mary? Offered comfort like Veronica? Or watched in sorrow like Mary, His mother? I hope I would have been faithful—but I also know I might have been among those who cried, “Crucify Him.” And yet, the beautiful truth at the heart of Easter is that Jesus came for all—faithful and fearful, sinner and saint, even those who rejected Him. He suffered, died, and rose again for
every one of us. In all my imperfections, He rose for me, and He rose for you!
This essential truth is at the same time humbling and overwhelming. It reminds us that God’s love is not earned, there is nothing we could ever do to earn his awesome love; it is freely given, poured out even when we fall short. The fullness of Easter is beyond words, but one comes does close: Alleluia—God be praised.
This one word has inspired many, let it inspire you.
As we enter Eastertide, may we not only say it, sing it, proclaim it, but live it! This week, I’d like to share with you some thoughts and reflections on living as an Alleluia people.
Let’s Pray:
Risen Lord,
In the light of Easter morning, I stand in awe of Your love. Open my heart to receive the gift of Your Resurrection. Fill me with a joy that cannot be shaken and a hope that cannot be taken away.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Amen.
